･歴史と｢さわり｣のﾍﾟｰｼﾞへ･調子と糸のﾍﾟｰｼﾞへ･種類と構造のﾍﾟｰｼﾞへ
三味線の皮は猫の皮と思われがちですが､実際には犬皮の方が多く使われています｡猫は腹の部分､犬は背中の部分の皮を使うそうです｡猫皮は貴重で価格が高く､高級な細棹三味線と地唄用の中棹三味線に使われます｡稽古用の三味線や太棹三味線はすべて犬皮です｡
猫皮と犬皮では､厚さや毛穴の大きさなどの違いから音質も違ってきます｡猫皮の方が､より繊細な音色になります｡津軽で使う太棹三味線には最もぶ厚い丈夫な犬皮を使います｡ぶ厚い皮ほど重厚な音色になり､薄いほど､抜けの良い軽やかな音色になります｡
写真では判りずらいですが､犬皮（津軽用）と猫皮では全く厚さが違います｡触った感覚では､津軽用の
