■[MaxPlanck]新生活スタート近づく
マックスプランクでの仕事も正式にスタートし、引越しの準備などであたふたした感じだ。今のところノースカロライナとフロリダでいったりきたりしている。そして、最近研究所の新しい建物もついにオープンし、いよいよ新しい環境への準備も整ってきた。ガラスを多様した、とっても美しいキャンパスだ。まだラボは工事中だけど、こんなところで仕事ができるかと思うと、すごいわくわくする。
マックスプランクのフロリダキャンパスは、アメリカの研究所であるため、ドイツのマックスプランクと違うところも多い。たとえば、資金集めは、研究所自信がやる必要がある。ドイツにあるマックスプランクのように、ドイツの税金で運営できるわけではない。最初の２００億円の資金

年末（時には年始）に『みすず』の『読書アンケート』の原稿を書くのが恒例になっている。その年のあいだに読んだ本（別に新刊でなくてもよい）についてのおおよそ 800 字程度の紹介・感想を書く。それが書店に並ぶ『みすず』の 1, 2 月号に数多くの「文化人」の寄稿とともに掲載されるのだ。
で、今年も書いたわけだが、もっとも書きたい二つの作品について書いたところ、期せずして去年の寄稿の「つづき」的な文章になった。
というわけで、今年のをお読みいただく前に去年のをざっと読んでいただければと思う（去年の 1/27 の日記にも掲載したけど）。800 字程度という縛りのなかで、個人の体験をベースにしたインターネットの変遷論に埋め込んで二つの本を紹介するという無茶な試みでした。
