[書評] 精神の考古学（中沢新一）
中沢新一の近著『精神の考古学』を読むことを勧められたとき、その刹那、「ああ、あれか」という不思議な思いが去来した。ほんの瞬時の直感であるが、二つのことがそこにあった。一つは、これは1983年の『チベットのモーツアルト』の続編であろうということ（すべての面でそうだという意味ではないが）、もう一つは、吉本隆明の思想を継いだ著作であろうということ。
そして、書物を手に取り、まえがきに目を向けたときに、私は、すべてがそうであったとでもいう奇妙な祝福のような感じがした。確かにそのとおりだと、瞬時に確信した。さて、私はそれをどのように語ったらよいのだろうか。
本書は、読まれるべき書物である、ということは明らかなのに、どのように読まれるべきか、次の言葉が浮かばない。しいていうなら、なんの偏見もなく、なんの憶測もなく、普通に、あたかも河口慧海の『西蔵旅行記』を読むように読むといいだろう、と言ってみたい。それでいいだろうか。それがよいのではないか。ここで私は逡巡する。
そして、以下、私が書くところは、率直なところ、あまり、読まれないほうがよいのかもしれないと思う。この含意すら、伝えることが難しいが。

本書は、明らかにと言っていいだろう、1983年の『チベットのモーツアルト』の続編的な位置づけにある。もちろん、続編ではない。中沢新一が先の本を書いたのは、30歳を超えたあたりであろうし、本書は彼が70歳を超えたあたりの執筆である。その間に、40年があり、私は、この同じ40年を、呼吸をして、生きてきた。私は、『チベットのモーツアルト』の優秀な読者ではないが、熱烈な読者の一人ではあっただろう。私が大学院を最初にドロップした懐かしい年でもある。この年には、この分野で刻まれる事件がある。浅田彰の『構造と力――記号論を超えて』の出版である。同書は時代を築いた。そして、この本と、やや寄り添うような形で『チベットのモーツアルト』があった。が、それは、浅田のそれがポスト構造主義の日本の幕開けであるのに対して、中沢のそれは、70年代のドラッグ・カルチャーの総括でもあった。単純に言えば、ビートルズが後年、マハリシ・マヘーシュ・ヨーギーに系統したような流れの終端であった。恥ずかしながら、自分も広義にその位置にいた。キング・クリムゾンのロバート・フリップのようにグルジェフィアンだったし、クリシュナムルティに傾倒した。私は高尚を気取っていたが、時代の渦中、あるいは渦中に近いところにいた（ニフティのフォーラムでは信者の方と批判的に対話していた）。この意味は、あたかも『輪るピングドラム』のようにオウム真理教事件へとうごめく流れでもあった。で？ 私は何を言うに躊躇っているか？ 『チベットのモーツアルト』はオウム真理教の事実上の聖典でもあったということだ。もちろん、断固として言わなければならないが、それは「誤読」だった。しかし、あの時代の力動の圏内にはあった。そのことは、あの時代の空気を吸った人間には、どよめく霧が晴れてようやくこの『精神の考古学」という書籍が書かれたのかという感慨もあるが、同時に、この書籍がそのどよめきなく読まれうることに、かすかな違和感のようなものも感じる。
私はさらに蛇足を書く。私は大学院時代以降に、吉本隆明に傾倒した。ひどい言い方をすなら、吉本隆明の著作には文庫も新書なく、学術的な価値もなく、貧乏学生には無駄な書籍に思えたものだ。が、社会に出て吉本に傾倒しながら、浅田と中沢を巻き込む（栗本慎一郎や彼が巻き込んだ上野千鶴子などや山口昌男など）「ポストモダン」を超資本主義のサブラカルチャーに傾倒していく吉本から傍観していた。
吉本は、村上春樹や高橋源一郎の作品を取り込む反面、1981年の『最後の親鸞』のように上昇する思想と非知に至る知の相反にあった。対して浅田は上昇する知そのものであり、蓮實重彦のように吉本隆明の非知の罪責感のようなものを持たなかった。この戯画化された構図は、中沢新一を矛盾においた。中沢は浅田や蓮實のような洗練された知の側に寄り添いつつ（しかし無駄ったといっていいようなあの事件があった）、吉本への傾倒を隠していた。このことを吉本は見抜いて、その渦中には中沢を吉本らしく容赦なく罵倒していた（吉本の親鸞論なく中沢の論が成り立つのかと）。私はあっけなく言うが、私は、わかっていた。『チベットのモーツアルト』はサブカルでもなく、構造主義的なレヴィ=ストロース的なものであく、ましてオウム真理教的な神秘主義でもなく、菩提心を宿した人間の業（ごう）の記録であろうと。
唐突なのだが、本書『精神の考古学』は、その後の吉本隆明と中沢新一の接近を示す表面的な関連ではなく、吉本が親鸞を宗教から解き放つとした心性に似た、回向の菩提心の現れであろう。中沢新一さんは、若い日に、菩提心を植えられた、と。人がなぜ「慈悲」もって生きるべきなのか、そして生かされて、この本を70歳にして書かされたのだ、と。しかし、そう読む人は私くらいであろう。
表層と切り捨ててしまったが、吉本隆明は暗黙に自身の思想の後継者として中沢新一を見ていた（もう一人は糸井重里だろう）。特に、この「精神の考古学」つまり、アフリカ的段階の問題がある。本書は、どういうわけか、『アフリカ的段階について: 史観の拡張』という書籍の参照はないが、それなくしてもは、本書の思想的な側面の、背景理解は難しい。そもそも、吉本隆明の『共同幻想論』自体が、私がかつてcakes連載に書いたように、そのままにして人類史の無意識を扱ったものである。
吉本隆明はマックス・ヴェーバーを血肉化していなが、近代とはWiederzauberung （魔術からの解放）であり、この魔術・呪術は。浅田彰が目指したように構造主義からポスト構造主義における「力」として見つめられたものだが、それが「力」、そして「悦楽」の顕現をするのは、まさに解放の後であり、「知」の勝利であり、ミシェル・フーコーが最後に見い出した生の意味としての快楽も、結局は、理性と個の意志のなかにある矛盾を持っていた。が、吉本はそう見ていなかった。私たの生の歓喜は、知を非知に接した新しい世界史の地平にあるとして、「アフリカ的な段階」を方法的に想定した。余談めくが、吉本隆明は生涯その前段のアジア的段階に苦しめられたが、日本が令和の今にあるも、アジア的な問題に停滞していること、そして世界は超アジア的な方向に向かってしまっていること。そこには、ナショナリズムが救済のように見えてしまうこと（プーチンがそう陶酔するように）がある。
と、私は無駄なことを語りすぎた。

本書は、さらっと「ゲールク派」と「ニンマ派」しか触れていない。西洋で強い影響力をもったカギュ派のチョギャム・トゥルンパなどには言及していないし、チョギャム・トゥルンパの末路も当然描かれない。そこには、祝福された者としての、中沢新一の菩提心の成就がある。教えは幸せを導いた。その幸せというものの、詩のような調べ、が本書の、修行の回想譚であろう。本書は、だから、美しい音楽を聞くように読むだけでもいい。ただ、私は、本書で、70歳を超えた中沢新一が「光」に至ったことを驚きを持って知った。菩提心、慈悲、それらは人の精神の深層に「光」として現れる。「アフリカ的段階」や「精神の考古学」が、ある意味、覆いつつ導いているのは、人の心に現れるそうした「光」であろう。吉本隆明の最後の親鸞は非知に着地したと諸論者に読まれるが、そこにあったものは、やはりこの「光」であろう。
