米国の政治学者として、その鋭い洞察と実務的な戦略的提案で広く知られているルイ・テイシェイラ（Ruy Teixeira）が、第二期トランプ政権について、The Free Pressで興味深い提言をしていた。彼が提供する政治の現状分析は、これまでも単なる予測にとどまらず、米国の政治がどのように変化するか、そしてそれにどう対応すべきかを示す指針となってきた。中でも注目されたのは、米国における人口動態の変化が、民主党にとって大きなチャンスを生み出すという彼の視点であり、代表作『The Emerging Democratic Majority』（2002年）では、米国の政治風景が劇的に変わると予測していた。彼の当時の理論によれば、米国の人口構成が変化し、特に移民、少数民族、都市部の有権者層が増加することで、民主党は次第に安定した支持基盤を築くことになるというものだ。ヒスパニック系やアジア系、都市部の若年層が選挙戦において民主党を強化し、その結果、将来的には民主党が米国政治の中心として確固たる位置を占めるだろうと予測していた。
